Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition will launch in China on September 19
Hype has been building up for the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition recently, and for good reason. It will basically be a more budget-friendly option to the wildly popular, and already quite affordable Xiaomi Mi 8 when released. Following up with our previous report that Xiaomi will be holding an event in Chengdu soon that is possibly the launch event for this smartphone, Xiaomi itself today via a Weibo post teaser has now confirmed the exact date of when the Mi 8 Youth edition would be released – September 19.
The teaser wording says “Being young is great – Mi 8 Series new device announcement, September 19, Chengdu”, I guess that is clear enough this is definitely the event for the Mi 8 YE.
In terms of specs, the front side of the Mi 8 Youth will be fitted with a 24-megapixel camera. For the rear panel, the leak stated its a 12-megapixel camera. Probably, it could be the main sensor of the dual camera system that resides on the rear side of the phone. The handset is expected to receive power from 3,350mAh battery.
Not much words on the internals yet, but we expect it to be slightly weaker than the Mi 8, but still will be a touch above most mid-range pricing phones.
While the image did not contain the price, another report suggested that Xiaomi is working on a CNY 1999 phone (RM1,207), which could very much be the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth Edition.
