Honor will be bringing in the Honor 8x to Malaysia Next Month!
Following their recent announcement in China earlier this month, Huawei’s sub-brand – Honor has finally announced that they will be bringing their budget series Honor 8x to Malaysia. Honor’s 8x is set to be affordable smartphones with mid-to-high specs.
This year’s Honor 8x looks really promising. It started with a rather premium-looking design, and of course, being an Honor device, it unsurprisingly looks familiar. It now has a notched display too, measuring at 6.5-inches, a display ratio of 19.5:9, and Honor claims that it has a 91% display-to-body coverage. The front-facing camera is now a 16-megapixel unit, while the rear camera has been bumped to 20-megapixel, and as usual, it’s accompanied by a 2-megapixel unit for depth information.
Honor kept the specifications of the 8x at a rather subpar level. It’s powered by Huawei’s in-house developed Kirin 710 processor, which we first saw with the Huawei Nova 3i and is a successor to the Kirin 659 found in the Honor 7x. Although Honor Malaysia hasn’t let us know the final details of the Honor 8x yet, the one launched in China is available in 2 configurations – 4GB or 6GB of RAM, paired with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, which is also expandable via microSD card, which got its standalone slot apart from the 2 nanoSIM card slot. It’s also loaded with Android 8.1, with their own EMUI 8.2 skin on top. All of these are held on by a 3750mAh battery, which is charged via the microUSB port at the bottom.
As for the Honor 8x Max which was announced along with the 8x in China, there’s no news on whether it will make it to Malaysian market. The 8x Max gets its name by being one of the largest phone out there, with a 7.12-inch display and a smaller notch. The 8x Max also uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor apart from their in-house developed Kirin processor, and like the 8x, it can be had with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, along with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Plus, there’s a whopping 5000mAh of battery.
Honor Malaysia also haven’t revealed any pricing yet, but we are estimated the 8x to be priced around RM1000, close to its predecessor – the Honor 7x. There also might be a limited edition Audi Special Box Set with the Honor 8x for early birds. As for its Max variant, it is estimated to cost under RM1400, if it ever makes it way to Malaysia.
