The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Is Now Official: Featuring Larger Battery, Bluetooth S Pen and More!

Samsung has just unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 to the world, featuring larger battery capacity, more storage, Bluetooth S Pen and friendlier price tag.

Like the Galaxy S9, the Galaxy Note 9 looks pretty much the same as its predecessor. The curved glass covering the front and back of the device, with a metal band in the middle that also acts as the chassis for the device are still on the Galaxy Note 9. With that said, the dimensions are pretty much identical to its predecessor, and same goes for the weight.

On the front, Samsung’s infamous Infinity Display has been bumped to 6.4-inches, the largest we’ve seen on Galaxy Note devices.

The Galaxy Note 9 also inherits the same processor from the Galaxy S9, which is an in-house developed Exynos 9810 Octa-core unit, cooled by Samsung’s Water Carbon Cooling System, which promises better thermals for long-lasting performance. 2 configurations are available at launch – with 6GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage, or 8GB of RAM paired with 512GB storage. Both configurations still support microSD cards up to 512GB for storage expansion, which makes the latter configuration the first device with up to 1TB of storage combined.

On the rear, the camera setup consists of a pair of 12-megapixel wide angle and telephoto sensors. The wide-angle camera consists of the same setup as the Galaxy S9+ – it’s a Dual Aperture setup, and will automatically switch between f/2.4 and f/1.5 for sharper images on daylight photos, or more light in low-light conditions. On the other side, the 8-megapixel front-facing camera remains, with auto-focus and aperture of f/1.7. The awkwardly located fingerprint reader on the Galaxy Note 8 has been moved to the centre, just below the camera.

The Galaxy Note 9 also gets a new S-Pen, and this time, it’s connected via Bluetooth, and it can remotely trigger actions (play/pause a music or take a photo) within typical Bluetooth range. It’s charged when it’s inserted into its usual slot in the phone, and Samsung says that it can be fully charged in less than a minute, and a full charge will go up to 30-minutes of use.

The Galaxy Note 9 is also packed with a 4000mAh battery, which makes it the largest in the Galaxy smartphone line-up. It continues to be IP-68 rated for waterproof and dustproof.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be available in 4 colours – Ocean Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Purple and Metallic Copper. Our market will be missing out on Lavender Purple for the moment, which we expect a later release.

The global availability of the Galaxy Note 9 is set to be on 24th August 2018. As for Malaysia, the price of the Galaxy Note 9 will start at RM3699 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration, while the 8GB RAM + 512GB configuration costs a whopping RM900 more at RM4599. The official launch of the Galaxy Note 9 is set on 15th August 2018.

Samsung is also throwing out good amount of freebies for those who pre-order their Galaxy Note 9 between 10th August 2018 till 19th August 2018 – including a Gear Sport smartwatch worth up to RM1219 for both models, while the 512GB configuration gives you an additional Gear Sport Strap worth RM93 and a Wireless Charger Pad worth RM219.
