Huawei Mate 20 design leaked by “reliable source”, claims XDA
Not long ago we have reported leaks regarding the Huawei Mate 20‘s display panel and possible under-screen fingerprint scanner. However, XDA today claims that they have seen photographs the real engineering sample of the phablet and have acquired the renders based on them.
A few things have changed since the last leak, first off, the most obvious one is the notch. The Mate 20 seems to have opted for the trending waterdrop notch like other upcoming Chinese phones such as the Oppo F9. The notch design is pretty much confirmed at this point as the firmware files that the folks at XDA digged up shows the exact same shapes of overlay for the Mate 20.
From the right side render, we can see the power button and volume rocker buttons. the SIM tray seems to be on the left side.
And now some good news: from the top render, a 3.5mm headphone jack is present. Nice touch by Huawei for not succumbing to the trend of removing options for consumers.
On the other hand, you can see a microphone, USB Type-C port, and the second speaker on the bottom side of the Huawei Mate 20.
XDA’s source suggests that the Huawei Mate 20 has a glass back, which is a necessity for wireless charging. Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 20 seems to feature 3 cameras, much like the Huawei P20 Pro. The camera system also includes a flash. The arrangement of the cameras and flash are certainly unique, by the way.
Other specs that XDA is able to uncover from the leaked firmware files suggests that the Mate will be powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, sports 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (other configurations possible), a 2220 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen, and runs on Google’s Android Pie.
Launch dates and pricing remain a secret kept tight, but if previous release of the Mate series is any indication, it will fall between October and November this year. Keep your eyes on for more Mate 20 news on WTN Today as we discover more.
