WhatsApp, being the world’s top free communication app has borrowed some idea from Telegram. The company introduces broadcast mode for group chat enable group admin to turn on an option where they are the only ones able to post.
The “Only admins” option is to keep a one-way flow of communication in the group. The feature is ideally for news agencies, schools, corporate communications, or public interest groups.
Telegram was the first to introduce broadcast mode back then. The app has a higher privacy where it doesn’t show user’s phone number. WhatsApp, in this respect, is less useful for large groups of strangers as it still shows the phone numbers of everyone that joined.
However, this is still useful for small groups which need to be update on certain things. It could be a secondary channel for keeping people updated without information being lost in the chat.
