Samsung New DeX pad Leak for Galaxy S9
In conjunction to the announcement of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on 25 February, the prolific leakster Evan Blass continues his Samsung Galaxy S9 coverage by publishing the images of the new Samsung DeX docking station.
The new DeX device will be called DeX Pad according to Evan Blass Twitter. it’s a flat dock unlike the first DeX device for the S8, which looks like more like a traditional dock.
From the leaked image, the DeX Pad has a USB-C connector, where you’ll have to plug your phone, two USB ports and one HDMI port. Another surprise factor from the leaked image that, the Samsung new flagship will be ship out with headphone jack.
To connect to the DeX Pad, your phone will have to lie on its back when plugged in, because it can apparently turn your S9 or S8 — it’s reportedly backwards compatible — into a touchpad or a virtual keyboard. If you’ll recall, Samsung’s DeX dock can transform the S8 into a desktop PC, so long as you have a screen, a mouse and a keyboard. This upgraded dock will probably be able to eliminate the need for a mouse and keyboard.
Huawei Mate 10 had also introduced a similar DeX solution which you can hook up with most USB-C adapter/docks. Mate 10 allow you to use your phone while it runs on EasyProjector mode and of course the screen of Mate 10 can be turn into Mouse & Keyboard too.
We’ll hear more about the S9 and any DeX dock Samsung plans to launch at the company’s Unpacked event on February 25th.
